Fostering unity among the local film fraternity, Uganda Federation of Movie Industry brings together filmmakers, directors, producers, scriptwriters, actors, Video Translators, Movie Performers/Actors, Production Aids and distributors. We are currently working very hard at sensitizing the public about the copyright law.

Since the local film industry is in its infant stages, UFMI figured that the introduction of movie awards would be one sure way of encouraging more peop
le; actors, scriptwriters, producers, directors and distributors to join the industry. You can see how the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards have changed the face of the Ugandan music industry.
LUCRATIVE BUSINESS?
Artists are investing in the industry. For instance, bringing Ramsey Noah and Genevieve Nnaji to the Awards show cost us close to $100,000, a figure that is hard to recover from gate collections alone. It was quite costly to bring them because UFMI had to fly them from the US, especially considering the fact that it had no sponsors yet. But this rewards dividends with time especially when the public begins to appreciate locally-made films.
